I’d received an email from the ladies at Ruffled Blog, last Fall, asking for me to help them create and execute some different, yet elegant looks, that readers and newly engaged couples would love to see. I had felt so honored to have been asked to be a part of such a great project, and the design wheels in my head began to immediately turn.
Amanda had mentioned to me their want in creating a monochromatic design for one of the looks, and I have to say it was where I ended up struggling the most. I wanted to be sure that I didn’t have too much pink, or strange shades of pink and blush that wouldn’t photograph well. I also wanted to mix in some unexpected items to break up the pink.
Needless to say, there were countless mood boards, phone discussions, and a ton of trial and error just playing with colored fabrics, textured furniture, various tabletop items, and endless inspiration photos.
When the day came, we were in an empty space, plates and colored glassware mixed in boxes all around, different shades of velvety linen were piled up and I just began to piece things together … it turned out so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.
This was definitely a bit outside of my normal style of classic and timeless, but it was so much fun “coloring outside the lines” for a change, and getting the chance to have creative freedom.
A great big THANK YOU again to the ladies of Ruffled, and to all of the incredibly talented vendors who made this vision become the perfectly pink reality I had in my head.
